Pada tutorial ini digunakan Windows Server 2008 RC0. Berikut ini adalah proses upgrade-nya.

1. Pada Window Server 2003 Domain Controller, masukkan DVD Window Server 2008 dan buka command prompt dan jalankan perintah-perintah berikut ini, pastikan untuk mem-browse ke direktori adprep di dalam DVD Windows 2008, pada tutorial ini drive DVD yang digunakan adalah drive F sehingga proses browsing dilakukan dengan perintah cd f:\sources\adprerp

• • adprep/ forestprep
  • adrep/ domainprep
  • adrep/ rodcprep (Opsional, jika nanti akan ditambahkan Read Only Domain Controller)

2. Jika halaman Install Windows tidak berjalan secara otomatis pada langkah sebelumnya, klik dua kali drive DVD tempat dimana DVD Windows Server 2008 dimasukkan kemudian klik Install Now.

3. Tampilan “Please Wait….” akan terlihat kemudian halaman untuk menentukan langkah selanjutnya yaitu “Go online and get the latest updates for installation” atau “Do not get the latest updates for installation option”

Pada tutorial ini proses update akan dilakukan nanti sehingga di-klik “Do not get the latest updates for installation.”

4. Masukkan product key, kemudian klik Next.

5. Terima license terms dan klik Next

6. Yang kita perlukan adalah mengupgrade server, sehingga klik pilihan Upgrade.

7. Laporan kpmpatibilitas akan ditampilkan yang memberitahukan bahwa hardware mungkin tidak akan berfungsi dengan baik sampai proses upgrade selesai, periksa juga pada vendor software jika software mereka kompatibel dengan Windows Server 2008. Klik Next

8. Proses Upgrade Selesai

9. Server akan restart secara otomatis beberapa kali dan proses upgrade akan berlanjut dengan operasi-operasi berikut ini :

• Expanding Files
• Installing Features and updates
• Completing Upgrade

Setelah beberapa kali restart, proses Upgrade akan selesai dan Windows Server 2008 bisa digunakan.
